Bell pepper is a cultivar group of the species
Capsicum Annuum. Bell peppers are cultivate in different colors, including red, yellow, green andorange. Bell Peppers are native to Mexico, Central America and northern South America. Pepper seeds were later carried to Spain in 1493 and from there spread to other European and Asian countries. Today, Mexico remains one of the major pepper producers in the world. Green peppers are less sweet and slightly more bitter than red, yellow or orange peppers. (source:Wikipedia).
They are also frequently used both chopped and raw in salads, or cooked in stir-fries or other mixed dishes. They can be sliced into strips and fried, roasted whole or in pieces, or chopped and incorporated into salsas or other sauces. They can be preserved by drying, pickling or freezing.
