Simple dals, my all time comforting food, i can live just with simply tempered dal with pickles for many days, just love them that much..This pepper cabbage dal was among my favourite dal coz this dal is really very easy and quick to prepare with a simple grounded masala prepared with grated coconuts, cumin seeds and pepper powder.This dish doesnt goes for chilly powder or sambar powder to make out..The spiciness of pepper suits prefect and goes awesome along with hot steaming rice when served along with papads or potato roast..A prefect side dish for rotis too, quick dal prepared with a toor dal, moongdal and masoor dal, these three dals cooked along with shredded cabbage turned out this dal more tastier than the usual dals...Sending this dal to Yasmeen's

1/4cup Toor dal
1/4cup Masoor dal
1/4cup Moong dal
2cups Cabbage (shredded or chopped finely)
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
1/2tsp Garam masala powder
1/2tsp Mustard seeds+urad dal
1/4tsp Cumin seeds
3nos Dry red chillies
5nos Curry leaves
1/4tsp Asafoetida powder
2tbsp Ghee
Salt
To Grind:2tbsp Grated coconut
1tsp Cumin seeds
1tbsp Peppercorns
Grind all the ingredients from the list 'To Grind' as fine paste with some water and keep aside..Wash the dals and combine the dals and cabbage with enough water in a pressure cooker with turmeric powder and cook for two hisses..Once the steam get released, add the grounded paste,salt and garam masala powder with cup of water (as per ur need),cook for few minutes...In a another pan, heat the ghee, fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chillies, cumin seeds and asafoetida powder with curry leaves, add the tempered spices to the cooking dal and put off the stove..
Serve hot along with rice and potato roast..
